🎯

Real manufacturer data

Select a projector model and lens — Projector Designer loads the actual throw ratio range, zoom limits and lens shift factors for that specific combination. No manual entry, no approximations. The numbers you see are the numbers from the manufacturer.

⚡

Live beam updates

Adjust position, aim or lens parameters and the projection geometry updates in real time. Pan, tilt, roll, offset — the beam cone recalculates as you work. Find the optimal placement interactively, not through trial and error.

🎪

Built for live events

Designed for the AVL workflow — concerts, corporate events, touring and fixed installation. Two-click placement, real specs, instant geometry. Everything you need to study a projection setup before setting foot on site.

Real lens data. No approximations.

🎯

Two-click placement

First click places the lens position in the scene. Second click sets the target point on the projection surface. The beam cone generates immediately with real coverage data.

🔭

Real lens data

Throw ratio, zoom range and lens shift from manufacturer documentation — not approximations. Coverage is accurate to the specific lens you select.

↕️

Lens shift workflow

Projector Designer shows real shift specs per lens. Rule: always use maximum lens shift before tilting the projector body — shift preserves keystone-free geometry, tilt does not.

🔢

Multi-projector scenes

Place unlimited projectors in the same SketchUp model with PRO — Free mode places one. Each projector keeps its own targeting, zoom, lens shift and resolution. Always name each projector uniquely before placing.

📊

Technical data output

Weight, lumens, dimensions and lens data per projector unit. PRO adds a BOM and an HTML project report you can hand to production.

🗄️

Manufacturer database

Structured product and lens data from Barco, Christie, Epson and Panasonic — 34 projector models and 107 lenses, each with its own throw, zoom and shift data.

📐

Metric & Imperial

Auto-detects SketchUp model units. Offsets and throw distances display in mm/m or ft/in according to your model settings.

🚀

Real data, real output

Projector Designer combines real lens data with production-ready output — rare among SketchUp projection tools. Purpose-built for AV production workflows where accuracy matters.

FREE vs PRO.

Projector Designer FAQ

What is the correct workflow for placing a projector?
Draw your projection surfaces in SketchUp first. Then open Projector Designer, give the projector a unique name (never leave "Projector 1" as default), select brand → model → lens, and click Place Projector. First click sets the lens position in the scene; second click sets the target point on your surface.
I changed the lens but nothing updated.
Changes on the Create tab only affect the next projector to be placed — not already-placed projectors. To edit an existing projector, select it from its own tab in the plugin and make changes there.
The second click doesn't snap to my screen surface.
Your screen surface is inside a group. The plugin cannot snap to surfaces inside groups. Explode the group containing the surface, or draw the projection surface as a standalone face outside any group.
When should I use lens shift vs tilting the projector?
Always use maximum lens shift before tilting the projector body. Lens shift moves the image without distorting it — tilting introduces keystone distortion. This applies whether the projector is floor-standing with an elevated screen, or rigged above aiming downward. Projector Designer shows the real shift range for each lens.
I can only place one projector in Free mode.
Free mode places one projector per SketchUp model, using two catalogue models. A PRO licence removes both limits — unlimited projectors in the same scene and the complete 34-model, 107-lens database.
Projector Designer doesn't appear in my Extensions menu.
Go to Extensions → Extension Manager → Install Extension and select the .rbz file again. If the toolbar is missing, go to Extensions → Projector Designer → Show Toolbar. No SketchUp restart is required after installation.
Which SketchUp versions and operating systems are supported?
SketchUp 2024 or later, on Windows and macOS. SketchUp Pro is not required. The plugin interface is in English.
Is Free a separate download from PRO?
No. Projector Designer 1.3.2 is one unified download. It runs in Free mode without a licence, and a valid PRO licence key unlocks the full PRO feature set instantly, with no reinstall and no second download.
I have the older standalone “Projector Designer FREE v1.1.0” — what should I do?
That was a different, separate extension and it will stay installed alongside the new one. Uninstall it first in Extensions → Extension Manager, then install the unified 1.3.2 release. Licence keys cannot be used with the old standalone Free version.
What does the project report contain?
PRO generates a BOM and an HTML project report covering the projectors placed in the model — model and lens selection, lumens, weight, dimensions, resolution, throw and shift data. Free mode shows the technical data in the panel but does not export the report.
Can I control throw ratio, lens shift and aim?
Yes. Selecting a model and lens loads the real throw ratio range, zoom limits and lens shift range for that combination. You can then adjust aim, position, lens shift and the optical parameters, and the 3D projection geometry updates as you work.
When can I buy Projector Designer PRO?
PRO licences are not on sale yet. The plugin is fully available to download and use in Free mode today, and PRO unlocks in place once licences launch. Join the waitlist to be notified.
Is Projector Designer included in the Dseconds Suite?
The Suite Bundle has not launched yet. When it does, it is planned to cover LED Wall Designer, Truss Designer and Projector Designer in one annual subscription. Pricing and terms will be confirmed at launch.
